The Greater Albuquerque Medical Association gives physicians a strong, unified voice in the legislative policymaking process—and an opportunity to shape decisions that affect their patients, practices, and communities.
Each year, GAMA partners with the New Mexico Medical Society to bring physicians from across the state to the Roundhouse for White Coat Day. The visible presence of physicians at the Capitol sends a powerful message to lawmakers and helps ensure that the medical community’s expertise and perspective are part of important policy discussions.
Before visiting the Capitol, participants receive a briefing from GAMA staff and our contract lobbyist on priority legislation, key policy issues, and opportunities to engage with legislators. Physicians may also attend relevant committee hearings, meet with policymakers, and provide valuable insight on proposals affecting the delivery and practice of health care in New Mexico.
