Media & Public Engagement Training

Empowering Physicians to Lead the Public Dialogue

GAMA’s Media & Public Engagement Training is an in-person, half-day intensive designed to equip our physician members with the confidence and communication skills needed to engage effectively with the media, policymakers, and the general public. This highly interactive workshop bridges the gap between clinical authority and public credibility, preparing physicians to speak clearly, persuasively, and strategically in high-stakes settings.

Next Session:
Saturday, November 8
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location TBD (Albuquerque)
This exclusive training is open to GAMA and NMMS members only, and registration is complimentary.

What You Will Learn

This training isn’t about theory, it is about action. Each element of the workshop is designed to build skills through practice, coaching, and real-world scenarios. The curriculum is anchored by five training pillars that reflect the diverse environments physicians face when stepping beyond the clinic. From sharpening your message to preparing for tough public questions, the training will help you grow from informed expert to strategic communicator.

From Expertise to Influence

The health of our communities depends not only on what physicians know, but on how that knowledge is communicated beyond the clinic. In public debates and policy decisions that impact care, medical voices are too often absent.

That absence is not due to a lack of expertise, it is a lack of preparation for the unpredictable dynamics of public forums. In an era where clarity, credibility, and connection are more important than ever, physicians must be ready to step forward and speak out effectively.

Physician-Centered

We know your time is limited and your communication instincts are shaped by years of patient care. That is why this workshop is:

Physician-first: Tailored to your strengths and learning style.

Skill-based: Focused on real-world scenarios and practice.

Supportive: Designed to build confidence, not test it.
